Colombia’s National Police detained Dutch national Eldrich Boedhoe in Medellín over alleged drug trafficking activities.

Investigators say Boedhoe moved to Colombia in 2015. They allege that he later became the main coordinator of a cocaine trafficking network.

The network reportedly sent cocaine to France, Spain and the Netherlands. Police say Boedhoe worked with Colombian trafficking groups to organize shipments and manage logistics.

Boedhoe was also wanted under an Interpol Red Notice. The Netherlands had already sentenced him to 12 years in prison for drug trafficking.

Colombian reports connect that sentence to a 2012 case. In that case, Boedhoe and other people moved more than six kilograms of high-purity cocaine into the Netherlands.

Police say the group recruited couriers to carry cocaine on commercial flights. The couriers allegedly used luggage with false bottoms to hide the drugs.

This method helped the group try to avoid airport security checks. Authorities say Boedhoe spent years developing links with Colombian trafficking organizations.

Investigators also say he helped manage the movement of cocaine out of Colombia. His role reportedly focused on planning shipments and handling the network’s logistics.

The arrest came after cooperation between several international agencies. Colombian police worked with France’s internal security service, known as SSI, and the U.S. Marshals Service.

The joint investigation helped authorities locate and detain Boedhoe in Medellín.

After his arrest, Colombian authorities placed him under the control of the Attorney General’s Office. The office will handle the process for his transfer to Dutch authorities.

Dutch authorities are seeking to have Boedhoe serve the existing 12-year prison sentence.

The case shows how law enforcement agencies from different countries worked together to track a suspect wanted for international drug trafficking.
