Police are seeking information from Canadian divers as they investigate reports of possible human remains near Parham.

Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers said officers are contacting the Canadian Consulate to identify researchers who may have conducted underwater dives in the area. He said investigators need more details before they can confirm the reports.

“We are trying to touch base with the Canadian Consulate to find out which Canadians were doing the diving,” Jeffers said during a police briefing on Thursday.

The investigation follows claims shared on social media that divers working with Canadian researchers found several human remains about three nautical miles east of Parham Dock.

Police have not confirmed the discovery. Officers searched the reported area last weekend but did not find the location mentioned in the reports.

Jeffers said the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda and the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force Coast Guard are ready to conduct an underwater search if investigators receive reliable information.

The commissioner said identifying the divers is an important step in the investigation. Police want to speak with anyone who may know the reported dive or the location where the remains were allegedly found.

Authorities continue to review available information while they work to establish the facts. Jeffers said investigators must confirm details before taking further action.
