ABS to Relocate to Caribbean Cinemas Complex on Friars Hill Road
ABS Television will move to new facilities at the Caribbean Cinemas complex on Friars Hill Road within the next two months.
Government officials confirmed the relocation during Thursday’s post-Cabinet media briefing. They said the process is already in progress.
Director General of Communications in the Office of the Prime Minister, Maurice Merchant, provided updates. He assured staff the transition will be smooth.
“The contract for your new location has been signed,” Merchant said. “The Department of Works will start moving this week, beginning tomorrow and continuing through the weekend.”
First, workers will inspect and review the new facilities. This ensures ABS can operate efficiently once the move finishes.
Merchant explained that the relocation resolves problems affecting the current ABS building. Therefore, staff will enjoy a safer and more suitable work environment.
Meanwhile, Public Works will make adjustments at the current facilities. This step ensures that ABS operations continue without interruption.
Officials emphasized that employees should expect the move to complete within two months. However, preliminary tasks will begin this weekend to speed up the process.
The Caribbean Cinemas complex offers modern facilities. Consequently, it will improve workflow and support ABS’s broadcasting capabilities.
Merchant stressed that careful planning will make the move successful. He said the government wants staff to settle into the new building quickly and smoothly.
Additionally, employees will benefit from upgraded office spaces and equipment. Furthermore, the new location provides better accessibility for staff and visitors.
The relocation aligns with the government’s plan to modernize state facilities. Moreover, investing in modern buildings strengthens public service delivery.
ABS staff are encouraged to cooperate with Public Works during the move. Their support will help manage both the old and new facilities efficiently.
Once the transition completes, ABS will operate fully from the Caribbean Cinemas complex. Officials say this change will strengthen the broadcaster’s service to the public.
Overall, the relocation improves working conditions and operational efficiency. It demonstrates the government’s commitment to modernizing state facilities.
Officials confirmed they will continue support throughout the move. They also aim to meet the two-month timeline for full relocation.
With these upgrades, ABS Television will enjoy a modern facility that supports long-term growth and effective broadcasting in Antigua and Barbuda.
