Canadian authorities in Antigua have charged a woman after officers seized a large quantity of cannabis at the airport.

Police say 48-year-old Roselynee Crisostomo now faces several serious drug charges. The charges follow a joint drug interdiction operation earlier this week.

The incident happened on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Officers carried out the operation at V. C. Bird International Airport.

According to police, the operation began around 4:30 p.m. Several law enforcement units worked together during the exercise.

First, officers from the Narcotics Department led the effort. In addition, members of the Special Services Unit joined the operation. Meanwhile, the K-9 Unit assisted with drug detection.

At the same time, the Customs Enforcement Unit worked alongside the police team. Together, the officers focused on incoming passengers and luggage.

During the operation, officers stopped Crisostomo after she arrived on a flight from Canada. She had traveled to Antigua on an Air Canada flight from Toronto.

Soon after, officers searched her luggage. The search quickly raised concern among the investigators.

Police then examined two suitcases that belonged to the traveler. Inside, officers discovered dozens of tightly packed parcels.

Investigators later counted sixty-one vacuum-sealed packages. Each package contained suspected cannabis.

As a result, officers seized the packages as evidence. Authorities estimate the drugs weigh about 67 pounds.

Officials say the cannabis has an estimated street value of EC $536,000.

Following the discovery, officers immediately detained Crisostomo. Police then took her into custody for questioning.

Shortly after, investigators formally charged her with several offences. These include possession of cannabis and possession with intent to transfer.

In addition, she faces charges for being concerned in the supplying of cannabis. Authorities also charged her with drug trafficking.

Furthermore, police charged her with the importation of cannabis into the country.

Law enforcement officials say joint operations like this remain important. They believe coordinated efforts help stop illegal drugs entering the island.

Meanwhile, investigators continue to review the case. Authorities have not yet released further details about the investigation.

Crisostomo is expected to appear before the court at a later date. Officials say the matter will proceed through the legal system in the coming weeks.
