Antigua and Barbuda’s Ambassador to the United States, Sir Ronald Sanders, has received Ukraine’s Order of Merit, Third Class, awarded by President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The honour was presented by Ukraine’s Chargé d’Affaires in the United States, Denys Sienik. According to Ukraine’s embassy, the award recognises Sanders’ contribution to strengthening relations between countries, supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and promoting the country internationally.

Sanders has supported Ukraine’s position at the Organization of American States (OAS) since Russia’s full-scale invasion began. His involvement has helped keep discussions about Russian aggression on the organization’s agenda, where member states have adopted resolutions addressing the conflict.

At the ceremony, Sanders said his support for Ukraine was grounded in the principle that the rights people expect for themselves should also be defended for others. He also expressed support for a just peace that respects Ukraine’s sovereignty and allows its people to rebuild.
