POLICE ADMINISTRATION EXPRESSES REGRET OVER INCIDENT INVOLVING DOGS DURING SEARCH OPERATION AT ALL SAINTS
St. John’s, Antigua and Barbuda, Saturday, October 17, 2026

The Administration of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda expresses sincere regret over an unfortunate incident involving several dogs during the execution of a search warrant at a property in All Saints on Friday, October 16, 2026.

At approximately 4:50 a.m., a joint team of police officers, comprising personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department Task Force, Special Services Unit, Gang and Guns Suppression Unit, and K-9 Unit, executed a search warrant at a residential property in All Saints.

During the operation, officers reportedly encountered several dogs, including pit bulls, a Rottweiler, and a Bullmastiff, which were displaying aggressive behaviour as police attempted to enter the premises.

In an effort to control the situation and prevent possible injuries to officers, less-lethal measures were initially employed.
However, one of the dogs reportedly continued to advance aggressively towards the officers despite these measures, resulting in an officer discharging a firearm. Regrettably, the animal was fatally wounded.

The Police Administration deeply regrets that the circumstances surrounding this operation resulted in harm to the animals, particularly the unfortunate loss of one of the dogs.
As an organization that operates its own K-9 Unit, the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda fully recognizes the important role dogs play in our society, not only as working animals but also as loyal companions and valued members of many families.

The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda reiterates that it does not condone unnecessary harm or cruelty to animals. The organization remains committed to protecting life, respecting animal welfare, and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism in the execution of its duties.
