St Kitts and Nevis Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew is set to travel overseas for specialised medical observation after being admitted to hospital with mild discomfort, nausea and a headache.

Drew went to the Joseph N France General Hospital on Sunday evening. Doctors admitted him for observation and a detailed medical evaluation.

Medical specialists monitored the Prime Minister for about 18 hours. During that time, he underwent diagnostic reviews and other assessments.

The Government said Drew remains awake, alert and in stable condition. His doctors are satisfied with his overall condition.

However, his medical team recommended overseas care for further observation and precautionary monitoring. Officials were making arrangements for his transfer on Monday, but the Government did not say where he would be taken.

The Cabinet Secretariat reassured the public that government operations continue without interruption.

A further update on Drew’s condition is expected at 7 p.m. Monday.

Drew, 49, has served as Prime Minister since August 2022. He also holds responsibility for several portfolios, including finance, national security, citizenship and immigration, health, human resource management and social security.

Drew is also a physician specialising in internal medicine.
