Murder Case Delayed as File Remains With Prosecutors

Murder

Murder case delayed again in Antigua as the court awaits the prosecution file. The matter involves a Lower Ottos man. As a result, the case remains stuck at an early stage.

Moreover, 43-year-old Deon Lloyd appeared in court this week. Prosecutors confirmed the case has not moved forward. Therefore, the matter was adjourned to June 26.

In addition, Lloyd faces a murder charge linked to the death of 35-year-old Javorn Williams. The incident took place on January 2, 2025. It happened during a confrontation at Boggy Peak.

Furthermore, Williams, a resident of Old Road, died at the scene. Police later detained Lloyd. They found him receiving treatment at Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre.

At the same time, Lloyd first appeared in court in January last year. The court remanded him to His Majesty’s Prison. He has remained in custody since then.

Moreover, the case has not progressed beyond the preliminary stage. Prosecutors confirmed the file still sits with the Director of Public Prosecutions. Therefore, delays continue to slow the process.

In addition, the case file has reportedly remained with the DPP since July. This has raised concerns about the slow progress. As a result, questions about delay have emerged.

Meanwhile, Lloyd’s attorney is Wendel Alexander. The defence continues to follow the proceedings. However, no major developments have taken place so far.

Furthermore, Lloyd remains on remand at prison. He continues to await further court action. Therefore, the legal process remains ongoing.

At the same time, repeated adjournments have marked the case. Each court appearance has led to further delay. As a result, resolution remains distant.

Finally, the matter is scheduled to return to court on June 26. In the end, the case remains stalled as prosecutors review the file.
