Power restored after crash disrupts Belmont #3 feeder

Power has been restored to several communities after an outage on the Belmont #3 Feeder. The Antigua Public Utilities Authority Electricity Business Unit confirmed the update.

The outage started after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole. As a result, electricity service dropped across multiple areas.

The affected communities included All Saints Road west of the substation. It also included Briggins, Grays Hill, and Whenner Road. In addition, Upper Desouza Road and Upper Tindale Road lost power.

Belmont, Cashew Hill, Bendals Road, and Golden Grove also experienced the outage. Nut Grove, Bendals, and Bathlodge were also affected.

However, technicians responded quickly after the incident. They moved to secure the damaged area first. Then they began repair work on the pole and lines.

As a result, crews restored electricity to most customers within a short time. Power now flows normally in the affected feeder areas.

Meanwhile, APUA continues to monitor the network. The team checks for any remaining faults. Customers with ongoing issues should report them.

In addition, APUA asked residents to contact the fault hotline at 311. This helps teams respond faster to isolated problems.

The utility company also apologized for the disruption. It thanked customers for their patience during the outage.

Moreover, officials reminded the public about road safety. Vehicle collisions can damage critical infrastructure. Therefore, careful driving helps prevent service interruptions.

At the same time, APUA says it will assess the damaged pole. Engineers will review how to strengthen vulnerable points. This step aims to reduce future outages.

Looking ahead, the company plans continued maintenance checks. These efforts support a more stable electricity supply across the island.

Overall, the incident shows how quickly infrastructure can be affected. However, it also shows how fast response teams can restore service.
