A legal case brought by Antiguan and Barbudan citizen Mehul Choksi in the United Kingdom has ended without a trial deciding whether he was abducted from Antigua and taken to Dominica in 2021.

Choksi had accused several individuals and the Indian government of being involved in his alleged forced removal. Those accused denied the allegations.

The proceedings came to an end after Choksi failed to provide a court-ordered security payment of about US$897,000 to cover potential legal costs for some of the defendants. His claims against the remaining parties were subsequently discontinued.

The conclusion of the UK case does not establish whether Choksi’s allegations were true or false. He remains involved in separate legal proceedings in Belgium as he challenges extradition to India.
