A trial has begun in the case involving a man accused of the shooting death of a Syrian national in Antigua and Barbuda.

The accused appeared before the court as legal proceedings got underway. The matter relates to the fatal shooting incident that resulted in the death of the Syrian national, which had drawn public attention.

During the trial, the court is expected to hear evidence from both the prosecution and defence as the case moves through the judicial process.

Roudi Shmaly was gunned down in May 2023. Since then, two individuals have been charged, one was released while the other Jahciba Shoy is now on trial.

The accused remains before the court, and no final determination has been made as the proceedings continue.
