Smoking laws will be reviewed after the next general election, Attorney General Sir Steadroy Benjamin said.

Currently, smoking cannabis or tobacco in public remains illegal. This is under the Tobacco Control Act 2018 and Misuse of Drugs (Amendment) Act 2024.

However, Benjamin explained that the government plans to revisit enforcement. He added the review will consider whether arrests should remain the main response.
