Antigua and Barbuda Hosts Commonwealth Lunch in London

Antigua

Antigua and Barbuda hosted a Commonwealth Leaders Lunch in London as preparations continue for CHOGM 2026. The event will take place in St. John’s from 1–4 November 2026. It was organised by the Antigua and Barbuda High Commission in London, along with CWEIC and the Sustainable Markets Initiative. As a result, the gathering brought together business leaders, diplomats, and Commonwealth partners.

Antigua and Barbuda opened the event with remarks from High Commissioner Karen-Mae Hill. She welcomed guests and highlighted the importance of cooperation ahead of CHOGM 2026. In addition, Minister of Foreign Affairs E. Paul Chet Greene addressed the audience. He thanked CWEIC and SMI for their support. He also acknowledged the presence of diplomats and officials from several missions.

Antigua and Barbuda used the luncheon to promote the CHOGM 2026 theme, “Accelerating Partnerships and Investment for a Prosperous Commonwealth.” According to Minister Greene, the theme reflects the need for stronger ties between governments, investors, and businesses. Moreover, he stressed that these partnerships can drive inclusive and sustainable growth. While Antigua and Barbuda is the smallest country to host CHOGM, he said the nation has strong ambitions. He also pointed to investment opportunities in tourism, infrastructure, healthcare, energy, artificial intelligence, and the blue, green, and orange economies.

Antigua and Barbuda also highlighted the role of the Commonwealth Business Forum during the discussions. The Minister explained that the forum will connect investors with decision-makers. Therefore, it will help identify real business opportunities across the Commonwealth. Finally, the event closed with remarks from Jennifer Jordan-Saifi of SMI and Lord Swire of CWEIC. As preparations continue, Antigua and Barbuda said it looks forward to welcoming global leaders, business groups, youth, and civil society to St. John’s for CHOGM 2026.
