Antigua and Barbuda is set to host the prestigious 2025 Caribbean Dinghy Championship from October 24 to 26 at the Antigua Yacht Club. This highly anticipated sailing event, approved by the Caribbean Sailing Association (CSA), will gather top sailors from across the Caribbean region to compete in six boat classes, including Optimist, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, ILCA 7, Topper Fusion, and RS Venture adaptive sailing. The championship aims to promote sailing and nurture emerging talent throughout the Caribbean.

The Antigua national sailing team enters the competition as the reigning Nations Cup champions, having secured four previous titles in 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Recognized as a dominant force in regional dinghy sailing, the team features skilled sailors such as Carrack Jones (ILCA 4), Shanoy Malone (ILCA 6), and Tyden Jones (Optimist). The team is eager to defend their home turf and capture their fifth championship title, thrilling local fans and supporters.

Dr. Clarence E. Pilgrim, Commodore of the Antigua Yacht Club and chairman of the championship committee, praised the strong support from event sponsors including the Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority and the National Parks Authority. Their backing has been instrumental in making the event possible, which promises three days of intense competition and celebration of sailing excellence.
