V.C. Bird Airport Records Wettest February 10–11 on Record
V.C. Bird International Airport experienced record rainfall on February 10–11, 2026. Moreover, the 24-hour total broke decades-old records.
Chief climatologist Dale C.S. Destin confirmed 34.4mm (1.35in) of rain fell. This surpassed the previous record of 22.2mm set in 1981.
Rainfall data at the airport has been collected since 1962. Therefore, the new measurement represents the highest total in over six decades.
The record highlights unusually heavy rainfall for this period. Consequently, authorities and residents were closely monitoring conditions.
Overall, the February 10–11 rainfall marks a significant weather event in Antigua and Barbuda’s climatological history.
