Important Changes Announced For Free Dental Services Registration

Important

Important changes now apply to registration for free dental services. The Ministry of Health, Wellness, Environment and Civil Services issued the update. The notice concerns the Great Shape Inc. – 1,000 Smiles Free Dental Initiative. The programme is held with the Sandals Foundation.

According to the Ministry, pre-registration will continue at a single location. Pre-registration will take place at the Multipurpose Cultural and Exhibition Centre. It will run on Thursday 15 January and Friday 16 January 2026. Registration hours will be 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. It will also run from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

As a result, pre-registration will stop at public health clinics. The process has been discontinued at the six clinics announced earlier. Therefore, the MC&EC will serve as the only pre-registration site.

Meanwhile, the Ministry issued guidance for people with existing forms. Individuals who collected forms at clinics must return them. Completed forms must go back to the same clinics. The deadline is 12:00 noon on Friday 16 January 2026.

Importantly, forms returned after the deadline will not be valid. Only forms submitted on time will be considered. Therefore, timely return is required.

Next, the Ministry outlined treatment dates. Persons who successfully pre-registered must attend for services. Treatment will take place on Monday 19 January and Tuesday 20 January 2026. No new registration will occur on Monday 19 January.

However, new registration will resume the following day. Beginning Tuesday 20 January 2026, registration will reopen. It will take place at the MC&EC from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Registration will run at the same time as treatment services.

Services offered during the programme include:

  • Dental fillings
  • Root canal treatments
  • Tooth extractions
  • Dental cleanings

Additionally, the Ministry confirmed the programme schedule. Services will operate on weekdays only. The initiative will run from January 19 to January 30, 2026. Daily operating hours will be from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Finally, the Ministry thanked the public for its cooperation. It encouraged interested persons to note the updated process. Following these procedures will allow access to the free dental services.
