EMS boost improves care in eastern communities
EMS services received a major boost in Glanvilles this week. An Emergency Medical Services station and ambulance were commissioned at the Glanvilles Polyclinic on Tuesday. This move aims to improve emergency response and access to healthcare in the island’s eastern section.
The ceremony drew key officials. Minister of Health, Wellness and the Environment Sir Molwyn Joseph attended. In addition, senior health officials joined the event. Randy Baltimore, the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party candidate for St Philip’s North, was also present.
Moreover, Baltimore shared details in a Facebook statement. He explained the new EMS station and ambulance will improve response times. As a result, residents should receive faster access to critical care. This includes people in the constituency and nearby communities.
Health officials also highlighted wider benefits. They said the service will strengthen medical transport and response efforts. Furthermore, it will support communities across the eastern corridor. These include Glanvilles, Freetown, Seatons, Willikies, Newfield, and Bethesda.
In addition, officials stressed the importance of location. By placing services closer to residents, response teams can act faster. Therefore, patients can receive timely care when it matters most.
This initiative forms part of a broader plan. The Ministry of Health continues to strengthen healthcare infrastructure. At the same time, it works to decentralize services. This approach brings critical care closer to communities across the island.
Several senior figures attended the ceremony. Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Stacy Gregg Paige, was present. Director of Emergency Medical Services Shawn Greenidge also joined the event.
Officials remain confident about the impact. They expect the new station and ambulance to improve emergency response capacity. Consequently, communities should benefit from quicker and more reliable care.
Overall, the development marks a step forward. It supports ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare delivery. Most importantly, it ensures residents in eastern communities can access urgent care faster.
