Antigua tourism authority expands presence in Quebec and Ottawa
Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority is strengthening its presence in the Quebec and Ottawa travel markets.
The tourism body recently appointed two experienced representatives in Canada. Consequently, Sylvie Madore and Danièle Bouchard will help promote the destination.
Officials say the move supports a wider strategy to grow tourism from French-speaking Canada. Moreover, the new appointments aim to increase travel awareness in Quebec and Ottawa.
Tameka Wharton, Director of Tourism for Canada, highlighted the importance of the Quebec market. She explained that the region remains a priority for future tourism growth.
Therefore, expanding the organization’s presence there is a key strategic step. Wharton also noted that both representatives bring strong industry connections.
Sylvie Madore will lead efforts to engage travel advisors and industry partners. Additionally, she will help expand consumer awareness across the region.
Madore brings many years of experience in the tourism industry. Earlier in her career, she worked as a travel consultant. Later, she moved into sales, marketing, and destination representation.
Over time, she worked with airlines, tour operators, hotels, and tourism boards. As a result, she developed strong knowledge of the Canadian travel market.
Madore also gained experience in television production and concept development. Consequently, she brings creative ideas to destination promotion.
She described Antigua and Barbuda as a unique Caribbean destination. According to her, visitors enjoy 365 beaches and a strong sense of safety.
Furthermore, the islands offer a boutique travel experience with warm hospitality. Madore believes this appeal will attract more travelers from Quebec.
She added that the team will work to build stronger travel demand. Eventually, that demand could support future direct air service from Quebec.
Meanwhile, Danièle Bouchard brings more than 30 years of industry experience. She founded the Quebec-based tour operator Tour Vogue.
During the 1990s, her company helped promote premium all-inclusive travel packages. Later, she represented luxury hotels and destinations worldwide.
Bouchard believes the Quebec market is entering an exciting tourism phase. Increasingly, travelers seek destinations that feel charming, safe, and culturally rich.
She said Antigua and Barbuda offers romance, adventure, eco-tourism, and history. Additionally, visitors appreciate the islands’ welcoming atmosphere.
This year, Antigua and Barbuda will also appear at several travel shows in Canada. For example, officials will attend the Travel and Vacation Show in Ottawa this April.
Ultimately, tourism leaders hope these efforts will boost visitor numbers from Canada. Moreover, they expect stronger partnerships with travel advisors across Quebec and Ottawa.
