Everton Jeffers Confirmed as New Police Commissioner After Years of Service

Everton

Everton Jeffers is now officially the Commissioner of Police for Antigua and Barbuda. His confirmation took effect on November 21, 2025. The appointment ends his period of acting leadership and marks a major milestone in his long career.

Moreover, Commissioner Jeffers succeeds Retired Commissioner Atlee Rodney. Mr. Rodney served more than forty years in the Force, including six years as Commissioner. He now holds the post of Deputy Director at the Regional Security System. His decades of service shaped policing across the nation and the region.

Jeffers becomes the 11th person to lead the Royal Police Force. He also brings more than forty years of experience. Throughout his career, he earned respect for his commitment and steady leadership. Officers often describe him as disciplined, focused, and deeply loyal to national security.

In accepting the appointment, Jeffers expressed gratitude and humility. He said he was honoured to lead the organisation. He also promised to give his best to Antigua and Barbuda. Furthermore, he thanked his family, colleagues, friends, and supporters for standing with him during his acting role.

He also praised Retired Commissioner Rodney for his example and guidance. Jeffers wished him success as he continues serving the region. Their close working relationship, he said, helped strengthen the Force during major challenges.

Additionally, the appointment triggered several leadership changes within the organisation. Superintendent Louisa Benjamin Quashie was promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police, also effective November 21. Her elevation marks another important advancement for women in leadership within the Force.

Other senior officers also received promotions as part of the restructuring. These moves aim to improve stability, enhance efficiency, and prepare the Force for new security demands. The Police Administration believes the team is now stronger and better positioned for the future.

Furthermore, officials say the leadership adjustments align with long-term plans to modernise policing. They include improvements in training, technology, and community engagement. Jeffers has already signalled support for these goals.

The Police Administration extended congratulations to all newly promoted officers. It wished them success as they take on their new responsibilities.

As Commissioner Jeffers settles into his role, many expect steady leadership and clear direction. His long service, combined with renewed teamwork, signals a new chapter for national security in Antigua and Barbuda.
