Antigua & Barbuda Reveal Luxury Projects and Cultural Milestones
Major Developments Ahead
Antigua and Barbuda are preparing for a landmark year in tourism. They unveiled major luxury projects, cultural milestones, and festivals that show why the islands are among the Caribbean’s top destinations. The Antigua & Barbuda Tourism Authority showcased these plans at World Travel Market 2025.
Faster Arrivals and Heritage Celebrations
First, the islands launched ArriveAntigua.com, a smart border system. This reduces arrival times and gets visitors to the beaches faster. At the same time, the nation marked the 300th anniversary of the Antigua Naval Dockyard, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Events included heritage tours, maritime displays, and cultural festivals, celebrating 300 years of Caribbean history.
Vibrant Arts and Culinary Scene
Moreover, Antigua & Barbuda continue to expand their cultural calendar. Art Week featured over 50 artists with exhibitions, workshops, and live performances. Culinary Month built on the popular Restaurant Week, inviting Caribbean chefs and earning praise as the Caribbean’s Best Emerging Culinary Destination. These events highlight the islands’ unique heritage and modern creativity.
World-Class Meetings and Conferences
The islands’ reputation for international events keeps growing. After hosting the 55th OAS General Assembly, Antigua and Barbuda will welcome the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in 2026. Leaders from 56 nations, including King Charles III, are expected.
New Luxury Resorts
In addition, several new resorts are set to open. Nobu Beach Inn Barbuda expands the Nobu Beach Club. Moon Gate Antigua, an adults-only boutique, opens in November 2025. Carlisle Bay and Curtain Bluff are undergoing multimillion-dollar renovations. Hermitage Bay relaunches with private schooner tours, while Marriott Resort at Yepton Beach adds overwater villas in 2028.
Improved Connectivity and Year-Round Events
Finally, connectivity is improving. Barbuda International Airport reopened in 2024, and LIAT now flies between the islands. A new cruise terminal will accommodate larger ships in late 2025. From Regatta Month to Wellness Month, the islands offer year-round activities, blending luxury, culture, and nature.
With eco-friendly projects and a growing UK visitor market, Antigua and Barbuda enter 2026 confidently, ready to impress tourists and residents alike.
