Crime Drops in Antigua & Barbuda for 2025

Antigua & Barbuda has recorded a 14.6% decline in overall crime for the period January to August 2025. The report from the Criminal Records Office showed 2,163 offences this year, compared to 2,533 for the same period in 2024.
Major reductions came in larceny, breaking and larceny, malicious damage, and unlawful sexual intercourse. However, cases of aggravated robbery, attempted robbery, and sacrilege showed increases. Overall robbery incidents still dropped from 103 to 72.
Crimes against tourists also fell sharply, with 23 reports this year compared to 44 last year. Most cases involved property crimes such as burglary and larceny. Police also seized 25 illegal firearms and over 280 rounds of ammunition, securing 16 convictions.
Government officials praised the Attorney General and Police Force for the progress but stressed the need to keep addressing violent crime. The decline has been welcomed as a sign of stronger public safety measures and ongoing community cooperation.
