Browne Warns Supporters Not to Relax Before Election
Browne is urging supporters to stay alert before the next general election. He spoke during his weekly radio programme.
Although the election date remains unknown, momentum is building. Browne confirmed he has written to the Governor General. This step will dissolve Parliament soon.
As a result, the country now moves closer to election day. Many expect the polls to happen next month. However, officials have not confirmed a date yet.
Meanwhile, one party has already stepped aside. The Democratic National Alliance will not contest the election. Party leaders made that decision after a meeting.
They thanked supporters for years of loyalty. Still, their absence changes the political landscape. It may also shift voter dynamics.
In contrast, the main race remains between major parties. The ruling Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party faces the United Progressive Party.
Looking back, the last election took place in January 2023. At that time, the ruling party won nine seats. The opposition and one independent shared the rest.
Now, Browne believes his party holds a strong lead. Polls suggest growing support among voters. However, he quickly issued a warning.
He told supporters not to feel overconfident. Instead, he urged them to stay active. He stressed that victory is never guaranteed.
Moreover, he highlighted a key risk. Some supporters may assume the race is already won. As a result, they may skip voting or preparation.
Browne pointed to past mistakes. In 2023, some supporters failed to vote. Later, many expressed regret. They realized their absence could have changed results.
Therefore, he stressed the need for readiness. Supporters must validate their voter cards early. Otherwise, delays could block them from voting.
In addition, he urged people to show up on election day. Participation remains critical for success. Every vote can make a difference.
Furthermore, Browne shared recent polling numbers. He said his party holds 49 percent support. Meanwhile, the opposition stands at 26 percent.
He also claimed a strong personal rating. His support stands higher than the opposition leader. These figures suggest a widening gap.
Even so, Browne remains cautious. He insists the race is not over. Until votes are counted, nothing is certain.
