Antigua and Barbuda Ranks Among Top Caribbean Passports in 2026

Antigua

Antigua and Barbuda placed fourth among Caribbean nations on the 2026 Henley Passport Index. The ranking measures global passport strength. It counts the number of countries holders can visit without a prior visa.

The index uses exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association. It shows differences in travel freedom across the Caribbean. Both OECS and non-OECS countries are included.

In 2026, the top 10 Caribbean passports ranked as follows:

1. Barbados

  • Strongest passport in the Caribbean
  • Leads region in visa-free and visa-on-arrival access

2. The Bahamas

  • Second strongest Caribbean passport
  • Close to Barbados in global mobility

3. Saint Kitts and Nevis (OECS)

  • Highest-ranked OECS member
  • Strong visa-free access

4. Antigua and Barbuda (OECS)

  • Positioned among regional leaders
  • Ahead of several larger Caribbean states

5. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (OECS)

  • Performs strongly in travel access
  • Maintains mid-to-upper Caribbean mobility

6. Saint Lucia (OECS)

  • Mid-tier Caribbean passport strength
  • Solid visa-free access

7. Grenada (OECS)

  • Slightly below Saint Lucia
  • Reflects similar visa-free destinations

8. Dominica (OECS)

  • Eighth in Caribbean rankings
  • Ahead of several non-OECS countries

9. Trinidad and Tobago

  • Outside OECS
  • Still in Caribbean top 10

10. Jamaica

  • Rounds out the top 10
  • Fewer visa-free destinations than OECS peers

Countries like Guyana, Suriname, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Haiti ranked below the top 10. Haiti remains the most restricted Caribbean passport.

The 2026 index marks two decades since its introduction. It highlights widening disparities in global travel access. OECS states showed strong representation, with six members in the Caribbean top 10.

Barbados maintained the region’s strongest passport. The Bahamas followed closely. Antigua and Barbuda joined other OECS members with strong travel freedom. Montserrat ranked lower in OECS due to its international status.

The Henley Passport Index emphasizes passport power as a key factor in mobility. It affects travel for business, education, and tourism. The rankings also reflect broader diplomatic and economic differences in the Caribbean.

Overall, Antigua and Barbuda’s strong showing reinforces the value of its passport. It ensures regional and international travel opportunities remain accessible.
