Three Antiguans Selected for U.S. Leadership Fellowship
Three Antiguans will join the Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative this year.
The U.S. Embassy in Bridgetown announced the 2026 selections.
The YLAI Fellowship brings together over 250 emerging leaders from across the Western Hemisphere.
Moreover, it pairs fellows with U.S. organizations and businesses for mentorship and practical experience.
This year, Antigua and Barbuda will be represented by three young entrepreneurs.
They are Raena Bird of Chattabox Co., Joshuanette Francis of Good Humans 268 Inc., and Canice James of Cyber Hawk Solutions.
The U.S. Embassy explained that the program strengthens leadership, entrepreneurship, and community impact.
Additionally, it equips fellows with tools to drive positive change in their home countries.
Furthermore, it fosters lasting people-to-people and business connections throughout the region.
The fellowship focuses on innovation, social impact, and economic development.
Consequently, it places the three Antiguans in a diverse, regional cohort.
There, they will gain exposure to best practices and business strategies.
Importantly, YLAI helps fellows apply lessons directly to their communities.
For instance, they can create sustainable projects and lead local initiatives.
As a result, youth development and social entrepreneurship will grow.
The program also includes networking, mentorship, and hands-on business experiences.
Therefore, participants can immediately implement leadership skills in real-world projects.
Additionally, it encourages peer-to-peer learning and cross-border collaborations.
Through the fellowship, Antigua and Barbuda’s representatives will contribute to national development.
Simultaneously, they will showcase the country’s talent to the region.
In turn, they may inspire local youth to pursue innovation and entrepreneurship.
The U.S. Embassy emphasized that connecting emerging leaders with resources strengthens communities and international networks.
Ultimately, the fellowship aims to cultivate leaders who create meaningful, lasting impact.
The three fellows will join the YLAI 2026 cohort later this year.
Meanwhile, they will prepare for intensive mentorship, training, and project implementation.
Overall, their participation reflects Antigua and Barbuda’s commitment to youth leadership and innovation.
