Kelvin Simon Pledges Focus on Youth and Vulnerable in 2026
Kelvin Simon has pledged to continue advocating for youth and vulnerable residents in St. Mary’s South.
He shared the commitment as the constituency looks ahead to 2026.
Simon, the Member of Parliament for St. Mary’s South, issued a New Year message to residents.
First, he thanked constituents for the opportunity to serve.
He described their resilience and unity as a source of motivation during difficult times.
He said progress during the past year touched lives across the constituency.
In particular, he pointed to gains in education.
Accordingly, he highlighted support for students and teachers.
Simon noted assistance with CSEC examination fees at Jennings Secondary School.
In addition, his office supported back-to-school book bag and supply drives.
He also cited the distribution of laptops and tablets to high-performing students and educators.
At the same time, Simon highlighted renewed support for sports.
He pointed to donations made to football clubs.
He also noted assistance for the return of netball activities.
Moreover, Simon referenced a regional football trip to St. Kitts.
He said the trip allowed young athletes to compete regionally.
Additionally, he said it honoured the memory of a deceased youth.
Meanwhile, Simon said his office continued to support vulnerable residents.
This support included monthly adult supplies for the elderly.
It also included care packages and food vouchers.
Furthermore, he cited medical bed support for residents in need.
He also mentioned limited relief for struggling small businesses.
At the same time, he said he remained vocal against injustice.
Simon added that he continues to advocate for improved infrastructure.
He said those efforts remain important for community development.
In addition, Simon reiterated his support for the family of Kahleel Simon.
Kahleel Simon was killed on his 18th birthday.
He said he would continue to seek justice in the matter.
Simon also paid tribute to former representatives Hilson “Bro B” Baptiste and Victor McKay.
He said their service continues to influence his work.
While welcoming progress, Simon acknowledged unfinished projects.
These include the Bolans playing field, stadium seating, and the fire station.
He said these matters remain priorities.
Looking ahead, Simon said unity will guide goals for 2026.
He added that determination and collective effort remain essential.
He said community development depends on working together.
