Restaurant Week split from Culinary Month
Restaurant Week and Culinary Month will take place as separate events in Antigua and Barbuda this year.
According to Shermain Jeremy, feedback from patrons and partners led to the decision.
Usually, both events run together. However, organizers decided to return Restaurant Week to its usual spot at the beginning of the month.
Jeremy explained that the change gives people more time to enjoy each event. As a result, visitors and locals will not feel pressured to choose between overlapping activities.
This year’s Restaurant Week began on May 3. Moreover, participation has remained strong across the island.
Jeremy said about 50 restaurants joined the event this year. These restaurants are located throughout Antigua and Barbuda.
In addition, diners can explore the full list of participating restaurants online. The website also includes details about each prefix menu.
Menu prices range from 25 to 75 US dollars. Therefore, organizers hope more people will try new dining experiences during the event.
Jeremy encouraged both visitors and residents to support participating restaurants. She said Restaurant Week offers a chance to explore different local flavours and dining styles.
Meanwhile, Culinary Month will continue with its own schedule of curated events. Organizers say the month will still feature a full calendar of activities.
Another major change this year involves international marketing. The tourism sector now plans to promote Antigua and Barbuda more aggressively as a culinary destination overseas.
In particular, officials are targeting the United States market. As part of that strategy, FabFest has moved to Memorial Day weekend.
The event will now take place during the weekend of May 23. Consequently, tourism officials hope to attract more international visitors.
Jeremy described FabFest as a culinary getaway experience. She encouraged travelers to visit Antigua for a unique food-focused vacation.
Furthermore, officials believe the separate scheduling could improve attendance at both events. It may also give restaurants more exposure throughout the month.
Overall, organizers say the changes aim to create a better experience for diners, visitors, and businesses alike.
