Man Jermaine Nicholas of All Saints will stay in His Majesty’s Prison after a murder charge. He appeared yesterday before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel.

Nicholas, 24, faces murder charges in the death of 29-year-old Jahmarie Pierre of Mack Pond, All Saints. The incident occurred near the All Saints traffic lights shortly after 5 p.m. on March 25.

Police say Pierre got into an altercation with another man. During the fight, Nicholas stabbed him in the back of the neck. They rushed Pierre to Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre, but he later died.

Police arrested Nicholas shortly after the incident. They charged him with murder. This case marks the sixth homicide recorded in Antigua and Barbuda so far in 2026.

Attorney Damian Benjamin represented Nicholas in court. Magistrates cannot grant bail for murder charges. Therefore, the court remanded Nicholas to HMP.

The court scheduled committal proceedings for June 3. These proceedings will move the case to a higher court for trial. Meanwhile, police continue investigating the incident.

Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel stressed the seriousness of the charge. She said the court treats murder cases with strict legal procedures.

Moreover, authorities asked the public to cooperate with police. They urged residents to report any information that may help solve violent crimes.

This homicide highlights ongoing safety concerns in the All Saints area. Police continue patrolling and monitoring high-risk zones to prevent further violence.

Furthermore, the case shows how the judicial system handles serious crimes quickly and fairly. Remanding Nicholas ensures the law protects both the public and the legal process.

Overall, the incident reminds citizens of the dangers of violent altercations. Authorities urge everyone to stay vigilant and support law enforcement.
