Fifty-Three

Fifty-Three recruits have started a new chapter with the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda.

They officially entered Course #50 at the start of a new training cycle.

An opening ceremony marked the beginning of their journey.

The event took place at the Sir Wright F. George Police Academy.

Commissioner of Police Everton Jeffers attended the ceremony.

Senior members of the Police Force also gathered to welcome the recruits.

Together, they officially received the new intake.

During the ceremony, Commissioner Jeffers addressed the recruits directly.

He reminded them that policing is more than a job.

Instead, he described policing as a calling.

He said the profession is built on honour, courage, and integrity.

Moreover, he urged recruits to wear the uniform with humility.

At the same time, he encouraged them to wear it with pride.

Additionally, he stressed the importance of public service.

He told recruits to serve every member of the community fairly.

He also called on them to show respect to all.

Meanwhile, other senior officials also shared guidance.

Deputy Commissioner Louisa Benjamin-Quashie delivered remarks during the ceremony.

Her message added further encouragement to the recruits.

Next, Commandant Superintendent Rodney Ellis offered guidance.

He spoke on training and professional development.

His remarks focused on preparation for police service.

The ceremony also included a prayer.

Pastor Kendall Doyle led the prayer for the recruits.

His words marked the solemn start of the training programme.

Following the ceremony, recruits began preparations for training.

Over the next six months, they will undergo structured instruction.

This training will include academic learning.

In addition, recruits will complete physical training.

They will also receive practical, hands-on instruction.

Altogether, the programme aims to prepare them for professional policing.

The training is designed to build discipline and readiness.

It will also develop skills needed for community service.

As the course begins, the Police Force extended best wishes.

The organisation wished the recruits success in their journey.

Finally, the Force welcomed them as future officers.

Their training now marks the first step in public service.
