Her Excellency Ms. Karen-Mae Hill, Antigua and Barbuda’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, has been re-elected President of the Administration and Budget Committee of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE). The announcement came at the BIE’s 177th General Assembly, held on 25 November 2025 in Paris, France.

Her re-election reflects the confidence of Member States in her leadership, experience, and commitment to good governance. Consequently, it underscores her growing influence within the international organisation.

The Administration and Budget Committee is one of four principal BIE committees. It oversees the preparation of the Organisation’s annual budget. Additionally, it ensures compliance with financial and administrative frameworks. The Committee includes representatives from nine Member States: Andorra, Angola, Bangladesh, Cyprus, France, Gabon, Switzerland, and Turkmenistan.

High Commissioner Hill first assumed the role at the 173rd General Assembly in November 2023. At that session, she also concluded her service on the Information and Communication Committee. Furthermore, the Assembly elected the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as host of World Expo 2030.

Presidents of BIE committees serve two-year terms and may be re-elected for a consecutive term. Besides committee duties, they act as Vice-Presidents of the BIE General Assembly. Hill’s re-election allows her to continue representing Member States at the highest levels of decision-making.

The 177th General Assembly included delegates from all 184 BIE Member States. Members received progress reports from all BIE committees. In addition, updates were provided on upcoming Expos, while closing reports were presented for Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai and the 24th Triennale Milano International Exhibition.

The Bureau International des Expositions regulates international exhibitions lasting more than three weeks and of a non-commercial nature. It oversees four categories of Expos: World Expos, Specialised Expos, Horticultural Expos, and the Triennale di Milano.

High Commissioner Hill’s re-election marks a milestone for Antigua and Barbuda in international governance. Moreover, it reinforces the country’s active participation in shaping global Expo initiatives. Through her leadership, the BIE Administration and Budget Committee is expected to continue promoting transparency, efficiency, and effective financial management.

This achievement not only honours Hill’s dedication but also strengthens Antigua and Barbuda’s diplomatic profile on the world stage.
