Woman was killed and a man was injured during a late-night shooting in Michael’s Village on Friday, January 23. Police have launched a full investigation as they search for answers and appeal for public help.

According to initial reports, the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. near the G&E Parking Lot. At the time, 42-year-old Nikisha Rose of Parliament Street, Gray’s Farm, was travelling in a vehicle with a male companion. Suddenly, an unknown assailant opened fire on the vehicle.

As a result, both occupants suffered gunshot wounds. Emergency responders arrived quickly. Soon after, they transported both victims to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for urgent treatment.

Tragically, despite medical efforts, Rose succumbed to her injuries. Doctors pronounced her dead at approximately 11:21 p.m. Meanwhile, the male victim, also from Gray’s Farm, remains hospitalised. Authorities say he is in stable condition and continues to receive medical care.

Since then, police investigators have been working through the night and into the weekend. They have begun canvassing the area and reviewing all available information. Additionally, officers are seeking to determine the motive behind the attack and the identity of the shooter.

At this stage, police have not confirmed whether the victims were targeted or if the shooting was random. However, investigators stress that every possibility remains under active review.

Meanwhile, law enforcement officials are urging members of the public to assist. Anyone who witnessed the incident or noticed suspicious activity nearby is encouraged to come forward. Information, even if it seems minor, could prove critical.
