Woman Charged After Shots Fired at Rihanna’s LA Home
Woman now faces attempted murder charges after gunfire erupted outside Rihanna’s Los Angeles home Sunday afternoon.
Police say several shots struck the front gate but never reached the house itself. Fortunately, no one inside the property suffered injuries during the alarming incident. However, the shooting still rattled residents and triggered a fast police response.
According to investigators, the incident happened around 1:20 p.m. local time. Officers say the suspect fired between five and seven shots toward the gated entrance. Meanwhile, several people stayed inside the home during the gunfire, police reported. Even so, the bullets only damaged the outer gate area.
Soon after, officers searched nearby streets for the suspected shooter. Later, police located a woman in her 30s and arrested her without further trouble. Authorities identified the suspect as Ivanna Lisette Ortiz on Monday morning. Prosecutors then charged Ortiz with attempted murder, a serious felony under California law.
Additionally, officials set bail at ten point two million dollars. As a result, Ortiz remains in custody while the case moves forward. Investigators still examine what led to the shooting outside the celebrity home. However, police have not yet shared a possible motive.
Representatives for Rihanna and her partner A$AP Rocky have not commented publicly. Meanwhile, fans quickly reacted online after news of the incident spread widely. Many expressed relief because nobody inside the property was harmed.
The global music star welcomed her third child last September. Earlier, she revealed that pregnancy during last year’s Met Gala appearance. Moreover, the singer recently returned to the studio to record new music. Her last album, Anti, arrived in 2016 and remains hugely popular.
Meanwhile, neighbors told reporters they heard rapid pops before police cars filled the street. Then officers secured the area and began collecting shell casings near the gate. Investigators also reviewed security cameras from surrounding homes. Furthermore, detectives interviewed witnesses who might have seen the suspect earlier.
Therefore, officials hope the evidence will clarify exactly what happened. Finally, the case now heads toward court as authorities pursue attempted murder charges.
