Witness Says Payment Dispute Fueled Murder Plot
Witness says one accused grew angry over an alleged payment split in the Nigel Christian murder trial.
On Tuesday, the key witness returned to the stand. He told jurors that Lasean Bully felt cheated. According to the witness, Bully received $5,000. He said Wayne Thomas received the same amount. However, he claimed Saleim Harrigan kept the remaining cash.
As a result, Bully became upset. The witness said Bully believed the share was unfair. He described tension among the men after the payment.
Earlier, the witness gave chilling details. He said the men told him they “got a job from somebody to kill the guy.” Moreover, he testified that he drove the three accused on July 10, 2020. He said he dropped them at Christian’s home in McKinnons.
Soon after, he witnessed an abduction, he told the court. Later that day, he made a grim discovery. He said he found Christian’s body in the Thibou’s area. The body had multiple gunshot wounds.
Furthermore, the witness said Bully later confessed to the shooting. He claimed Bully admitted firing at Christian’s face and upper body. In addition, he testified that Thomas said he had Christian’s firearm.
During the hearing, the witness also identified a photo of Christian’s home. He confirmed the image matched the house in McKinnons.
Meanwhile, all three accused deny the charges. Bully is from Cashew Hill. Thomas is from Hatton. Harrigan is from Greenbay. Each has pleaded not guilty.
Prosecutors, however, plan to call more than 50 witnesses. Therefore, the trial is expected to last about six weeks.
As testimony continues, jurors must weigh the witness’s claims. The court will hear further evidence in the coming days.
