U.S. woman pleaded guilty after authorities found cannabis in her luggage at VC Bird International Airport. The incident happened as she prepared to leave Antigua.

Authorities stopped the 40-year-old woman last week. Security personnel first alerted police at the oversized baggage area. Therefore, officers quickly intercepted her before boarding.

Police identified the woman as Keishell Labeach. Officers then searched her luggage and found several packages. These included transparent bags, capsules, and Ziploc bags.

In total, the items contained 163.4 grams of cannabis. Authorities valued the drugs at $1,634.

After the discovery, officers charged Labeach. She later appeared before Chief Magistrate Ngaio Emanuel. During the hearing, she pleaded guilty to the charge.

Meanwhile, her attorney, Wendel Alexander, addressed the court. He said she left the substance in her suitcase by mistake. He also noted that she is four months pregnant. In addition, he said she was visiting from the United States and has Antiguan family ties.

Despite this, the court upheld her bail conditions. The magistrate maintained the $2,500 station bail with two sureties. Furthermore, the court ordered her to surrender her travel documents.

As a result, she cannot leave the country at this time. She must remain in Antigua until the court completes the matter.
