Tributes Pour In as Weekend Crashes Keep Responders Busy
Tributes continue for 35-year-old Charles Paul Rippon, killed Friday on Crabbs Main Road.
Rippon, from Fitches Creek, lost control of his silver Honda CR-V near the Crabbs Economic Zone. Police said the car overturned several times after veering off the road.
Firefighters from All Saints Fire Department used hydraulic rescue tools to pull Rippon from the wreck. Paramedics rushed him to Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre. Doctors confirmed his death at 8:30 p.m.
Friends and family remember Rippon as an honest businessman. Many shared condolences online, calling him “kind” and “generous.”
Earlier Friday evening, police responded to another crash in Freetown. A grey Toyota Ractis ended up in a hedge. The lone female driver, 48-year-old Karen Pigott of Wireless Road, was unresponsive.
Emergency Medical Services confirmed she had died. Police said they do not suspect foul play, and the investigation continues.
Responders stayed busy throughout the weekend. In Hatton, a truck struck an 11-year-old boy around 7:00 a.m. He suffered a serious leg injury and went to the hospital.
Two hours later, a man hurt his leg in a two-car collision on Old Parham Road. Another motorist suffered injuries in Cassada Gardens.
Police are also investigating a Friday night incident in Paynters involving a teenager and a 41-year-old.
Authorities urge drivers to follow traffic laws. They stress obeying speed limits and driving carefully to prevent accidents.
Emergency teams worked tirelessly over the weekend. They managed crashes and protected public safety across Antigua and Barbuda.
