Symister Calls Vehicle Scandal ‘Mother of All Scandals’
Leon “Chaku” Symister, legal adviser to the United Progressive Party in Antigua and Barbuda, has described the ongoing vehicle procurement controversy as the biggest scandal under the current government. He says the issue, called “Vehiclegate,” involves several government departments and demands a full, independent investigation free from political influence.
Symister insists that only a transparent inquiry led by independent investigators can satisfy the public’s need for accountability. He also believes those involved should be suspended while the probe is underway to prevent interference with the evidence. The scandal, he warns, is too big to ignore and calls for a complete review of government procurement and financial practices.
He urges civil society, churches, unions, and citizens to unite and push for justice. If official channels fail, Symister says the public should legally take action to make sure those responsible are held accountable. He stresses that the government’s credibility depends on a clear and fair investigation that leaves no room for doubt or cover-up.
