Residents Call for Action Over Stagnant Water in All Saints
Residents call on the Ministry of Works to fix a stagnant water issue in All Saints. The problem has lasted for months.
The issue sits near Mock Pond, east of the All Saints complex. It started in December after excavation work in the area.
Moreover, the Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) carried out the digging. However, the work remains unfinished.
Since then, a pool of stagnant water has formed at the site. Residents say the situation has not improved.
Additionally, one resident has raised concerns since early January. The resident said repeated calls brought no response.
“I’ve been reaching out since early January,” the resident said. “They dug it up in December.”
Furthermore, an image online shows greenish water covering part of the roadside. Dirt piles surround the area.
As a result, residents fear the water may attract mosquitoes. This could increase the risk of illness in the community.
Beyond health risks, the area also creates safety concerns. The uneven ground makes travel difficult for drivers and pedestrians.
Meanwhile, poor lighting at night adds to the danger. Heavy rain also makes the road harder to navigate.
Residents also report problems contacting APUA. Some say calls go unanswered. Others say follow-up efforts cost time and money.
Therefore, frustration continues to grow among those affected. Many feel their concerns have not been addressed.
However, residents remain hopeful. They believe public attention may push authorities to act.
Finally, they urge the Ministry of Works to step in and resolve the issue quickly. They want the area restored to a safe condition.
Overall, the situation highlights ongoing concerns about unfinished work and public safety in the community.
