Police Raids Yield Firearm Seizure, Cash, and Multiple Arrests
A series of coordinated police operations conducted across the island on Tuesday has resulted in multiple arrests and the seizure of a firearm, ammunition, and significant cash, authorities confirmed.
The raids were executed by officers from the Criminal Investigations Department Task Force (CIDTF) in collaboration with the Gang and Guns Suppression Unit (GAGSU). As part of an ongoing initiative to disrupt criminal networks and recover illegal weaponry, the units executed several search warrants throughout the day.
During the operations, several individuals were taken into custody on suspicion of housebreaking and larceny. Law enforcement successfully recovered a .25-calibre pistol and a magazine containing six matching rounds. Additionally, large quantities of Eastern Caribbean and Canadian currency were seized.
All items have been transported to the station for forensic examination, and the suspects remain in custody as investigations proceed.
The Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda has reiterated its commitment to ensuring public safety by removing illegal firearms from the streets. They continue to urge the public to report suspicious activity to the Criminal Investigations Department at 462-3913 or anonymously via Crimestoppers at 800-TIPS (8477).
