Police Hunt Truck Driver After Illegal Dumping in Parham

Police

Police are searching for a truck driver accused of illegal dumping in Parham.

The search follows secret camera footage captured by residents. Community members installed the hidden camera after months of frustration. They said indiscriminate dumping plagued the area for a long time.

As a result, residents decided to act. They set up surveillance to catch whoever was responsible. Soon after, the camera recorded a truck arriving heavily loaded. However, the vehicle later left the area empty.

According to footage obtained by Antigua.news, piles of garbage appeared where the truck had stopped. The images allegedly show the vehicle unloading refuse before driving away.

Meanwhile, residents voiced anger over the situation. They said they repeatedly cleaned the same area. Yet, the dumping continued. One resident made the community’s feelings clear. “This is not a landfill,” the person said.

Furthermore, the illegal dumping has raised wider concerns. Residents believe the practice harms the environment. They also say it damages the community’s image.

In response, St. Peter MP Rawdon Turner condemned the act. Rawdon Turner called for those responsible to face consequences. He said such behavior undermines national efforts to raise environmental standards.

Moreover, he pointed to the country’s focus on improvement. He noted that 2026 has been designated the Year of Beautification. Therefore, he stressed that illegal dumping contradicts that national goal.

At the same time, police confirmed that investigations are ongoing. Officers are working to identify both the truck and the driver. They have not released further details.

However, authorities are asking for public help. Police urge anyone with information about the truck or the driver to come forward. They believe community support could help move the case forward.

For now, residents remain watchful. They hope the footage will lead to action. Above all, they want the dumping to stop and their neighborhood restored.
