Police Commissioner Praises Female Officers on Women’s Day
Police Commissioner Everton Jeffers praised female officers and staff of the Royal Police Force of Antigua and Barbuda during celebrations for International Women’s Day 2026.
In a message marking the occasion, Jeffers thanked women in the police force for their dedication and service. He also recognized female law enforcement officers around the world for their courage and commitment to their communities.
Moreover, Jeffers highlighted this year’s theme, “Give to Gain.” He explained that success comes through dedication, discipline, and perseverance. According to the commissioner, policing remains a demanding profession.
However, he praised the women who continue to serve with strength and professionalism. He said their commitment to public service strengthens the police force and the wider community.
In addition, Jeffers recognized officers who excel in academics and leadership. He noted that many female officers have pursued higher education and professional development.
Their achievements, he said, reflect the value of hard work and service to others. Furthermore, he encouraged female officers to continue striving for excellence in their careers.
Jeffers also reminded them that their potential within the organization remains limitless. He added that their contributions help strengthen policing and improve public safety in Antigua and Barbuda.
Meanwhile, the observance followed four days of activities organized by women within the police force.
First, officers took part in a community outreach initiative. During the program, female officers met with residents across communities.
They especially engaged women and young girls. Through these visits, officers promoted empowerment, mentorship, and trust.
Next, female officers attended a retreat and seminar at American University of Antigua. The sessions focused on leadership development and wellness.
Participants also discussed work-life balance and the changing role of women in policing and national security.
In addition, the activities included a formal banquet at the John E. St. Luce Finance and Conference Centre. The event recognized female officers and staff for their dedication and professional achievements.
Finally, the observance ended with a church service of thanksgiving at Swetes Wesleyan Holiness Church.
The service focused on faith, strength, and unity. Organizers said these values continue to support women serving in law enforcement.
Together, the events highlighted the important role female officers play in protecting communities across Antigua and Barbuda.
