Midwifery Education Strengthened in Antigua and Barbuda
Antigua and Barbuda is improving midwifery education to help mothers and babies. The government, working with the United Nations Population Fund, started a workshop for midwifery teachers. This training will help midwives learn the skills they need to give better care during pregnancy and childbirth.
Midwives play a vital role in the health system. They support mothers in labor and guide families through important moments. The government wants to make sure midwives are well-trained and confident. This helps reduce risks for mothers and newborns and improves overall health in the country.
The workshop focuses on hands-on learning to prepare midwives for real challenges. Officials hope this will lead to safer births and healthier babies. They also see this as a step toward their goal of quality healthcare for everyone.
