Harold Lovell, caretaker for All Saints West and member of the United Progressive Party (UPP), criticized Prime Minister Gaston Browne’s recent actions regarding the ongoing vehicle scandal. He said the PM’s new policies and plans are rushed and meant to distract the public. He called them acts of desperation rather than real reforms.

Lovell stressed that these announcements don’t deal with the core problem or hold anyone truly accountable. He said the repayment deals arranged before a full investigation are just political smokescreens. Transparency and a proper investigation, he argued, are what the people of Antigua and Barbuda need.

The UPP is demanding a full forensic probe led by independent bodies like the Integrity Commission and the Auditor General’s Office. Lovell said only such an inquiry can restore public trust. He accused the Prime Minister of using “window dressing” to hide the truth and keep the public in the dark.
