LIAT Supports Possible Evacuation of Students in Jamaica
LIAT is ready to help with the possible evacuation of Antiguan and Barbudan students in Jamaica. The airline’s CEO agreed to provide a plane if needed after Hurricane Melissa passed through. This move came after Prime Minister Gaston Browne met with her to finalize the plans.
Currently, 53 students are safe and staying at the Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston. They have been there since the storm warning began. The students feel secure and have continued their studies while waiting for the weather to clear.
Prime Minister Browne assured everyone that the safety of the students is a top priority. LIAT’s quick action shows how important the airline is to the region. The readiness to fly the students back home offers peace of mind to families and officials.
This situation highlights LIAT’s role in emergency support beyond regular flights. The airline’s cooperation helps keep the community connected and safe during storms.
