Labour Department corrects 2026 public holiday list
The Labour Department has issued a correction to the 2026 public holiday schedule.
Officials said there was an error in Official Gazette numbers 60 and 61. The date for the “National Day of Prayer” was incorrect.
The corrected date is Thursday, 10th September 2026. Citizens are asked to note this update carefully.
The revised list of recognized public holidays now reads as follows:
- 1st January — New Year’s Day
- 3rd April — Good Friday
- 6th April — Easter Monday
- 4th May — Labour Day
- 25th May — Whit Monday
- 3rd August — Carnival Monday
- 4th August — Carnival Tuesday
- 10th September — National Day of Prayer
- 1st November — Independence Day
- 9th December — V.C. Bird Day
- 25th December — Christmas Day
- 26th December — Boxing Day
Additionally, the Labour Department clarified that Independence Day will be observed on Monday, 2nd November 2026.
Officials emphasized that all citizens should plan accordingly for public, school, and business activities. This ensures events align with the updated holiday schedule.
The update follows the regulations under the Public Holidays (Amendment) Act 2005. Authorities confirmed that all other dates remain unchanged.
