A Guyanese man died Thursday night in Antigua following a collision between a car and a horse near the Sir Wright F. George Police Training Academy. The victim, 40-year-old Brenton Anthony Bristol of Hodge’s Bay, had lived in Antigua since 2006 and worked as a plumber and landscaper.

Police said the crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Friars Hill Road. A silver Audi, reportedly traveling at high speed, struck a brown horse. The driver lost control after the impact, injuring both occupants. Bristol, who was a passenger, later died from his injuries. The horse also died at the scene.

The vehicle’s driver was taken to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre with head injuries and is listed in stable condition. Authorities are investigating the accident to determine the exact cause.
