Goods Pricing Bill: Public Consultation Announced for Antigua and Barbuda
Antigua and Barbuda’s government is inviting the public to a national consultation on the Price of Goods Bill, 2025. This new bill aims to replace an old law to better fit today’s economic reality. The consultation will take place on November 24 at the Parliament Building in St John’s. It is open to citizens and key stakeholders.
The Bill seeks to stop price gouging and ensure fair prices for consumers. It also aims to improve transparency in how prices are set and shown. Additionally, the Bill will add stronger rules for enforcement and penalties. These changes are meant to protect both shoppers and businesses in the island nation.
Officials say public input is very important. They want the new law to meet the needs of everyone involved — from consumers to retailers and importers. Draft copies of the Bill will be available at the consultation and online for review. The government hopes this process will build trust and fairness in the marketplace.
