Good Humans 268 Youth Leader Wins Global Climate Grant
Good Humans 268 Inc. is celebrating a major international achievement. Youth leader Kelisha Pigott earned selection as a project leader in a global climate initiative.
The program operates under the UNESCO and Nestlé Youth Impact Global Youth Grant Scheme. Organizers selected Pigott from nearly 5,000 applicants worldwide.
As a result, the project will support climate education in Antigua and Barbuda. Pigott plans to develop an Online Waste Management Classroom for communities across the country.
The digital classroom will offer easy access to environmental learning tools. For example, students will find interactive worksheets, puzzles, and educational games.
In addition, the program will include more than 100 short educational videos. These videos will explain recycling, waste separation, composting, and environmental responsibility.
Furthermore, the project will support the development of a Student Community Service App. This digital platform will track environmental volunteer work completed by students.
Through the app, students will log where they volunteered and what activities they completed. They will also record how many trees they planted and how many items they recycled.
Meanwhile, global environmental challenges continue to grow. According to the United Nations, plastic waste sends millions of tonnes of pollution into ecosystems each year.
Consequently, this pollution harms wildlife, marine life, and human health worldwide.
Pigott believes young people can help change that trend. She said young leaders already play an important role in climate action.
However, she explained that many students still need practical tools and information. Therefore, the online classroom will help students better understand waste and environmental responsibility.
Moreover, Pigott said the project builds on work already done by Good Humans 268 Inc.
The organization has already reached thousands of students through recycling programs and environmental activities across the island.
Therefore, the new project will expand that impact even further. The digital resources will allow anyone to access environmental education materials.
Over the coming months, Good Humans 268 Inc. will share updates on the project’s progress. The group also plans to release behind-the-scenes content and highlight school visits.
Meanwhile, community members can follow the organization on social media. Through those updates, residents can see how the project promotes sustainability in Antigua and Barbuda.
Ultimately, the initiative aims to inspire stronger environmental responsibility among young people and communities across the country.
