Gas station operators across Antigua have written to the Prime Minister. They want urgent action on fuel margins.

Firstly, the letter dates March 23, 2026. Representatives from 21 stations signed it. They delivered it to the Prime Minister’s Office.

Moreover, the operators say current margins no longer work. They describe them as “inoperable and untenable.”

At present, gasoline sells at $14.50 per gallon. Diesel sells at $14.25 per gallon.

However, operators earn $1.08 per gallon on gasoline. They earn $0.95 on diesel.

Because of rising costs, they say these margins are too low. They argue the system no longer covers expenses.

In addition, operators first raised this issue in the 1990s. Yet they say no change has come in over 30 years.

As a result, financial pressure continues to grow. Many operators say they now struggle to stay afloat.

Furthermore, they point to higher business costs. They cite rent, wages, and utilities as key pressures.

The recent minimum wage increase adds more strain. Operators say it tightens already difficult conditions.

According to them, the impact feels severe. They described it as “being kicked while already down.”
