Flu Vaccination Drive Protects Healthcare Workers at SLBMC
Flu vaccinations have begun at the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre (SLBMC) as part of its annual staff immunization drive. This campaign highlights the importance of flu vaccination in protecting healthcare workers and their patients. Getting the flu shot is a simple way to reduce the spread of the virus and keep the hospital community healthy.
Dr. Margrethe Belle, head of SLBMC’s Infectious Disease team, explained that healthcare workers come into close contact with vulnerable patients. Vaccinating helps protect both staff and those at risk of serious flu complications. The vaccine is safe and effective, and it helps prevent severe illness and wintertime hospital visits.
Nurse Philis Humphreys-Harris encourages everyone to get vaccinated with confidence. The flu virus changes each year, but the vaccine lowers the chance of getting sick and makes illness less severe if you do get the flu. It’s especially important for older adults and people with chronic conditions.
SLBMC’s staff vaccination drive will continue over the next few weeks. Healthcare workers are urged to get their flu shots and set a good example for the community. Prevention starts with each person doing their part to stay protected this season.
