Eighty worshippers who were abducted in Nigeria’s Kaduna State have escaped from captivity, according to local reports. The group had been kidnapped during a religious gathering, an incident that shocked communities across the area.

The victims reportedly managed to flee when their captors were distracted, escaping from a forest hideout where they were being held. Some of those who escaped were injured and are now receiving medical care, while others have been reunited with their families.

Authorities say security agencies are continuing operations in the area to track down the kidnappers and prevent further attacks. Community leaders have welcomed the escape but remain concerned about ongoing insecurity.

Kidnappings remain a major challenge in parts of northern Nigeria, with residents calling for stronger security measures to protect worshippers and civilians.
