Driver Hospitalized After Pickup Overturns on Pares Main Road
Driver injuries are under close review after a pickup overturned on the Pares Main Road on Sunday afternoon. The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m., and it quickly drew a response from police and emergency teams. Although the driver survived, his exact condition has not yet been released.
According to police, the man was heading east in a Mazda pickup. However, he apparently lost control as he approached a culvert. The vehicle struck the concrete edge, flipped violently, and landed upside down. The driver was the only person in the truck.
Emergency responders from the Parham Police Station arrived within minutes. They assessed the scene and worked carefully to reach the injured man. Soon after, Emergency Medical Services stepped in to stabilize him. They then transported him to the Sir Lester Bird Medical Centre for further care. Although he was alert, officials have not confirmed the extent of his injuries.
Meanwhile, the overturned truck caused temporary traffic delays. Officers guided drivers through the area while investigators documented the crash site. The police said weather was clear at the time, suggesting speed, distraction, or a sudden maneuver may have contributed to the loss of control. However, they stressed that no conclusion will be made until the investigation is complete.
Additionally, nearby residents reported hearing a loud impact followed by people shouting for help. Several bystanders moved cautiously toward the scene but waited for police instructions before stepping closer. Their cooperation allowed responders to work without obstacles, and officers thanked them for staying calm.
The Pares Main Road has seen several recent collisions. Therefore, the incident renewed concerns about road safety along the busy stretch. Police urged motorists to reduce speed, especially near culverts and narrow shoulders, since sudden drops can cause vehicles to flip easily. They also reminded drivers to avoid distractions and maintain proper lane control at all times.
Investigators are expected to return to the area to conduct further assessments. They will examine skid marks, tire condition, and the vehicle’s mechanical state. The findings will help determine what led to the crash and whether charges or safety recommendations are necessary.
Police continue to ask anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them. Fresh information, they said, could help complete the report and improve safety for all road users.
